What is certified translation?

Certified translations are typically required when people need to submit official documents to formal organisations for official purposes. For example, the translation of the following documents may require certification:

Birth Certificate College Diploma Memorandums
Marriage Certificate Academic Transcripts Commercial Contracts
Criminal Records Qualification Award Insurance Documents
Divorce Decree Medical Reports Bank Statement
Divorce Certificate Medical Transcripts Police Certificates
Death Certificates Statutory Declaration Police Report
Driving License Power of Attorney Police Clearance CRBs
Passport Deeds of Ownership Witness Statements
ID card Affidavit Wedding Certificate
Adoption Applications Reference Court Orders
Visa Applications Job Applications Any Official Document
Immigration Documents Certificates of Conduct No Impediment Certificate
Naturalisation Documents Financial Reports Articles of Association
University Diploma Employment Contracts Any Legal Document

Our certified translation contains a copy of the original source document, a copy of our translated document and a certificate with our signature confirming that the translation has been translated by a qualified translator. A reference number will be given to each certified translation, and all documents will bear our embossed stamp.

Notary Translation Services

If your document is required by formal governmental or legal organisation, the translation will normally also need to be notarised. Notarisation of the translation is a higher level of legalisation than Certified Translation. The translation, the original document and our certificate will be presented before a Notary Public to declare that the translated document is an accurate and faithful translation of the source document. The Notary Public will then sign the document and affix their own certificate.

Sworn Translation Services

When a Sworn Translation is required, our translators will personally attend a Solicitor or a Notary Public, and swear before the Solicitor or Notary that they are fully qualified professional translators  and that the translation is to their best knowledge an accurate and faithful translation of the original document. The solicitor or notary will then sign and stamp each page of the translation.

Apostille (Legalisation Services)

When dealing with authorities or consulates of the countries working in accordance with the Hague Convention, Legalisation (or Apostille) of your original document may be required to confirm that the signature, seal or stamp on this document is genuine. The turnaround time of our Legalisation Service is normally longer than that of certified translation and Notarisation services. Your document will fist of all need to be translated, and then certified and notarised. The notarised document will then be passed onto the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) to get legalised. At the moment, most of the UK-issued documents can be legalised. The following are some examples of different types of documents that may require an Apositlle:

Covered Birth, Marriage and Death certificates
Covered Passport
Covered Company House Documents
Covered Court Documents
Covered Certified Translations (Bearing signature and certificates of a Solicitor or Notary)
